The German Federal Office for Information Security (Bundesamt für Sicherheit in der Informationstechnik, BSI) warned companies against using Kaspersky Lab antivirus products because of the potential threats they could pose to the EU, NATO and Germany.

The BSI statement says that companies are better off replacing Kaspersky products with any other security solutions from non-Russian manufacturers. Kaspersky Lab reported that its legitimate Amazon Simple Email Service (SES) token, previously issued to a third-party contractor, was used by cybercriminals as part of a phishing campaign aimed at Office 365 users.

Amazon SES is a scalable email service that allows developers to send emails from any application, including marketing and bulk mailing.

Experts associate these phishing attacks with several criminal groups that used two cornerstones of phishing for the attacks: Iamtheboss and MIRCBOOT.

The No More Ransom project, a joint initiative of law enforcement agencies and information security companies, celebrated its fifth anniversary, and on this occasion its participants shared interesting statistics.

Let me remind you that No More Ransom was launched in 2016 as an initiative to combat ransomware. Then only Europol, the Dutch police, Kaspersky Lab and McAfee took part in it.

Kaspersky Lab has released a new line of its popular antivirus products. The official release of Kaspersky AntiVirus 2021 took place on August 12. However, after a couple of days, the vendor rushed to patch holes in new releases though problems were not critical.
